Ginger-orange cranberry sauce

This is a nice variation on traditional cranberry sauce.

Cut a 2 inch piece of fresh ginger (no need to peel) into 5 or 6 lengthwise slices, then use a heavy jar to partially crush each slice. Use 1 bag of fresh cranberries and follow the recipe on the package, substituting orange juice for the water and adding the ginger slices at the beginning of the cooking. When the cooking is complete, remove and discard the ginger.
